21. Key Up, Pause, Then Talk

22. Understand the Digital Cliff

The mistake: Expecting DMR to fade gracefully the way analog does. On analog, a weak signal gets progressively noisier — you hear the static build, so you know you're reaching the edge of range. DMR gives you no such warning. The audio stays perfectly clear right up to the edge, then falls off a "digital cliff" — breaking into robotic "R2D2" gurgling, chopping in and out, and dropping completely, often within a step or two.
